Vernon ("Gene") Leverty is the principle of Leverty & Associates Law Chtd. Mr. Leverty works primarily in the areas of civil litigation, insurance regulation, complex litigation including class actions. Gene earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. He is admitted to practice in all Nevada (1971)and California (1971) state courts, as well as the United States District Court for the State of Nevada and several of the federal district courts in the State of California. He began his legal career working as a legislative counsel with the Nevada legislature, 1970 to 1971. He was the first EPA Administrator for the Nevada Environmental Protection from 1971 to 1972. Chief Deputy Insurance Commissioner, 1972-1979. In 1979, he joined as a partner the California law firm of Miller & Daar, with offices in Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Milwaukee and Seattle. Miller & Daar was a highly specialized insurance law firm with the principals being a former California Insurance Commissioner, California Chief Deputy Insurance Commissioner, former Executive Director of the NAIC and a former Chief Counsel of the California Insurance Department. Mr. Leverty left Miller & Daar in 1989 and has thereafter practiced exclusively with Leverty & Associates Law Chtd. Gene is very proud that his son, Patrick Ryan Leverty, JD, LL.M Insurance Law is his law partner. Gene is a member of the FEDERATION OF REGULATORY COUNSEL. He is currently President-Elect of the Nevada State Bar and has served on the Nevada State Bar Board of Governors since 2010. He has received many awards from the State Bar of Nevada for his various services to the legal profession from 1977 to the present. Gene Leverty has been AV rated for a multitude of years by Martindale Hubbell (the highest rating), he was selected in 2016 for his lifetime legal achievements to AMERICA TOP 100 ATTORNEYS.
