J. Angela Ables, President and Managing Partner of Kerr, Irvine, Rhodes & Ables, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma has been involved in the private practice of insurance regulatory, administrative and transactional law for over 30 years. Ms. Ables, formerly an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oklahoma, provided representation to the Oklahoma Insurance Department and then joined the Insurance Department where she served as Deputy Insurance Commissioner until she went into private practice with the firm of Kerr, Irvine & Rhodes in 1985. She represents insurance companies before the Insurance Department and has extensive experience in incorporating, licensing and providing all aspects of legal advice regarding insurance company regulation. She has been involved in mergers, drafting policy language and providing reinsurance contracts as well as all types of insurance transactional matters. Her clients are some of the largest insurers in the nation as well as smaller Oklahoma domestic insurers who rely on her expertise in charting the highly regulated areas of insurance regulatory law. Ms. Ables also has provided legal defense to insurers in all lines of insurance at both the trial court and appellate levels. She is recognized as an expert in insurance matters due to her regulatory background as well as her concentration in her practice over the past 25 plus years.
